After a nightmare weekend, got myself a 1d mkII

So, I've been shooting with a Canon 20D and a 300D, both medium-low end professional dSRLs, but I've always believed glass is so much more important anyway, so that's where I've invested. That and remote lighting set-ups and such.

Welll, The 20D crapped out on me this weekend, during a wedding. Thank god I had the 300D there, (I swap between the two bodies with two different lenses). It was a horrible experience and that 300d (the original digital rebel) was a nightmare to shoot with in raw.
I pulled it off, and the client had no idea.

The good thing that came out of it, is that it forced me to step up my camera body. I bought a used 1d mkII from an old moto racing friend Aaron Remus. He gave me a sweet deal, but it was still a pretty good hit on the bank account. Either way, I'm excited. Now I gotta go get that 20D fixed.

FW Zoo with Sarah and 400mm 2.8L

While I still had the lens, I thought I'd make the best of it, so Sarah and I head out to The Fort Worth Zoo for a day of photographs.

This is the kind of close ups I could get with that beast of a lens.

Sarah. This is what made the day so great.

Trip to Llano for bald eagles

This past weekend I took a trip to Llano, TX to shoot wild bald eagles.
The trip was great. A great weekend alone, very relaxing time. I love shooting wildlife, you just sit and enjoy nature, and wait for the wildlife to come to you.

I rented a 400mm 2.8L from arlington camera. This is one sweet lens. I also put on a 1.4X extender on it.

this is me in my car, bored. I camped out in a HEB parking lot. I was excited to shoot so it was hard to sleep. I decided to test out the jumbo lens.

Morning!

Dad was perched beautifully waiting for mom to return with some lunch.

Mom returned with fish.
